Christian watches Skylar in silence as she holds her fancy bow and shoots the targets in the training area. The fake sun scorches their bodies as the trees provide little shade. Skylar’s speed is amazing, and he loves to watch her train but knows she will kick his butt if she spots him. Skylar stops abruptly, turning to see her best friend watching her. She wipes the sweat off her face and places the bow over her shoulder. She flips her hair back and walks toward him.
“How long?”
“Long enough to see you would kick my ass in the tournament this weekend.”
“I am not fighting you in the bow competition; it’s the firearms.”
“Either way, you win.” He gets to his feet. “I might be able to take you in boxing.” He laughs.
“Seriously, you are not funny.”
“Why are you such a grouch today?” He grabs his bag off the ground and tries to catch up with her.

“Have you not seen the limited females in this place? I think you are the only one that is over eighteen, who is my age.”
“Look, we need to stop this and move on.”
