Vampires kidnapped Alise’s sister. Alise vowed to save her sister by becoming a member of the Guardian of Souls. The organization was constructed to protect mortals from the failed government and the vampires after bombs destroyed most civilizations. Alise joins her former fiancé to decipher the rumors of her sister’s whereabouts. Little did Alise know the truth was always in her reach. This is the first book in the Guardian of Souls short story series.
The world we once knew is no more, as darkness has covered the earth like a blanket. Alise is a member of the Guardian of Souls, which did not come to her by accident. Guardian of Souls operates without government influence. Three years ago, vampires took her sister, and Alise will stop at nothing until she finds her. The crumbling cities are empty homes for those who survived the deadly blast to destroy all.
Floods have destroyed countries, leaving small islands as safe havens, for only the wealthy are granted access inside the rebuilt cities. The new government has constructed camps to seclude mortals captured to prevent them from turning into vampires. Alise escaped her death two years ago and seeped deeper into an unwanted darkness that she may never escape.
READ MOREAlise stops her motorcycle in the heart of what used to be Chicago and studies the rough stones blocking her path. She pulls the key from the ignition, studying one of the buildings, and grabs her belongings to search for the underground hideout of Danes. She can smell the decay of the dead as she gets closer. She enters what used to be a door to a hotel, and she scans the shadows with her flashlight.
“I suggest you vanish, before I cut your head off.” Someone disappears, causing the dust to be disturbed. Alise knows she is no longer alone because she can smell her enemy watching her. “I demand to speak to Danes!” Silence is still around her, and she pulls out her gun, waiting for someone to step out from the shadows.
